Remembering the King of Pop

I've hated believing that everything always comes in three's. If someone announces a pregnancy, or a new baby is born... or when someone passes away.

First Ed McMahon. Then Farrah Fawcett.

And now... Michael Jackson.

*long sigh*

As @aplusk puts it, "I plea to the press to respect his wishes of maintaining the anonymity of his children."

Oh hell yeah.

I count myself lucky to have gotten a chance to actually meet the King of Pop umpteen years ago. I think we were juniors in high school and I was helping a friend, Rachel, close up shop. A candy shop nestled in the middle of 14 acres of waterfront shopping and dining in beautiful downtown San Diego.

It was closing time and Rae had already locked both doors. I'm standing outside one of them and she comes over to let me in. That's when I see a huge ass motherfucker outside the other door... and practically go nuts when I see that she's about to let him in, too.

What happens next? Check out the rest of the story here.

lol *shakes head* I will never forget how kind and gracious he was... Never mind Ms. Thing who was with him.

Rest in peace, Michael Jackson... our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

Pounding Peter Facinelli

Peter Facinelli
You know what I've noticed after attending a couple of Twi-Tour Conventions?

We'll be going back and forth with Q&A, some really great questions... some NOT. *shakes head*

But to break it up, one off the celebs will do something different... and if you can imagine a ballroom full of estrogen and screaming females...

Then you can imagine what happens when this crowd gets pysched up.

And of course, who is it that always goes out of his way for his fans?

Peter Facinelli.

He's actually walked into the audience to hand select an attendee with a question. I've seen him call someone up on stage and give up his seat for her while she nervously twirled her hair to ask a question that's almost slipped off her mind.

And of course... you saw what he did for "Orange," at the LA Twi-Tour, right? Who wouldn't want to be pampered by Peter, Edi and Kellan - all at once?

You gotta give it up for celebs like Peter who genuinely appreciate their fans. So when he made that bet about getting 500K followers in Twitter - we just had to round up some support and help him get to his number:

Eyes of Amber, Rob My World, The Danger Magnet, Random Acts of Rob, Twilight-Headed, Robsession, Super Secret Twilight Blog, Twitarded, ROBsessed, Cullen Boys Anonymous, Twilight Moonlighter, Robsten Lovers, Why Not? Twilight, RPattz and Me, @gcgonc, and @LaTuaCantante_

In case you missed it, you can click here to catch the video he made about the bet, uppin' the ante with his Twilight director's chair. As of yet, he's at about 229K - and we still need to get him to 500K.

What can you do to help? Two things:

1) Follow Peter on Twitter
2) Add the hashtag (#peterfacinelli) to keep Peter as one of Twitter's Top 10 Trending Topics

And if you're not already on Twitter, now would be the perfect time to sign up and get connected. When you get there, holla at me at @mammadawg and so we can dish. :)

Now... let's get ready to deliver the pounding Peter's asked for! ;)

Introducing Jean-Claude, Micah and Zsadist

Some of you might say that I've been, uh... a little, uh...

Unfaithful.

Boy - does that one word just drum up some steamy scenes from Olivier Martinez and Diane Lane?

All of you know by now that I'm a bit of a Twihard. ;) But just because I love the community that's been built with Twilight - doesn't necessarily mean that I can't fall in love with any other vampires. Or... wereleopards. ;)

Right?

MattDaddy.net is the one responsible for introducing me to the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I have read 16 of the 17 books published in a matter of months - OCD kickin' in again, I know.

And at some point in my life, I'd love to read them all over again. *shakes head* Yes - I'm nuts. But something about these books just puts me in my happy place... I can't wait to see it hit TV next summer!!

In the meantime, however, the girls have insisted that I start the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. So while I was waiting for LKH's Skin Trade to hit the shelves, I picked up the first 2 books of BDB.

And fell in love with these vampire warriors.

When I finish with the BDB series, I think I'm going to check out LKH's Merry Gentry series...

What about you? What books have you been into lately?

Win Peter Facinelli's Twilight Director's Chair Backing

If you're already a part of Twitterville, then you've already heard about the bet between Peter Facinelli and Robert DeFranco.

With the deadline looming in, midnight on Friday, June 19th, Peter is still short of his goal to gain 500,000 followers.

If he loses, he has to give up the backing of his director's chair from Twilight to Rob.

But if he wins... Rob has to dance down Hollywood Blvd - wearing a bikini - while singing Beyonce's "All The Single Ladies," and holding a sign saying "Twitter Me".

Not to mention, one lucky follower will win the backing of his Twilight chair. Hear it straight from Peter himself:

And follow him at @peterfacinelli - let's make sure one of us gets that chair instead of Rob. And seeing Rob do his thang on Hollywood will SURE be a sight.

Who else is following? :)

After-Party Escort

Day 3 of the 2009 Grand Slam/Twi-Tour Convention (Part 4 of 4 - FINAL)

I’d already gotten my autographs during the San Francisco convention, but a friend gave me an idea when she asked if I could get Kellan’s autograph for her.

On her picture with him.

So you KNOW I had to do the same. I turned in my two autograph tickets and brought her pic and my black & white one for him to sign. He chuckled when I told him people were hating on me coz of that single picture.

Hell – even the photographer told me he was getting emails about that picture in particular. ;)

But now the autograph line had almost reached its end, and the Twilight Pass holders were already seated in the After-Party room. Refreshments were set up, with a cash bar for anyone wanting something stronger.

Do you remember the Vampire Ball in San Francisco? This would be similar – not quite as good, but still… Each of the four celebs would be making their rounds, chit-chatting at each of the tables – bodyguards (BG) in tow.

And since Sheryl and I had no particular assignments, we decided to accompany the bodyguards as they made rounds with the celebs. She got Edi.

And you already know who I got. ;)

I don’t think he noticed me at the first couple of tables. But after the third table, he looked right up at me. I motioned for him to follow his bodyguard, and then I pulled up the rear. That became our little system - BG in the front with me at the back.

A few tables down, BG calls time and Kellan looks up at me like he doesn’t know where to go. I laughed and motioned for him to follow BG.

He started lagging at one point and I almost walked on top of him. I had to nudge him forward and that’s when I caught a whiff.

DAMN HIM FOR SMELLING SO GOOD.

Omigod - it stopped me and literally – LITERALLY - made me blink and catch my breath.

And since I don’t like being disarmed like that, I silently told myself to keep my distance.

WTF?

I know, I know… I’m an idiot, right? I can actually hear you screaming at me right about now. ;) But seriously – I needed to keep myself in check. Not just because I was working…

But for ME. Gotta hold on to something, right?

So now… we’re about halfway through the room and what does Kellan do? He breaks one of the company rules, even with the BG standing behind him.

Where am I?

Standing across the table from him. An absolutely incredulous smile on my face as I give him cold eyes. I think he froze for a half second when he registered the look on my face.

It's three long seconds later before he's done with his mischief. Afterwards, all he has to do is step to his right to follow the BG to the next table. Short and straightforward. But instead… he steps to his left, walks all the way around the table to meet me on the other side.

So I wait. And when he gets to me, I sorta pinch him in the upper arm and start giving him shit.

“You know you’re just making my job harder, right?”

We laugh it off but thankfully, he decided not to pull any more stunts after that. (Whew!)

Sheryl’s watching me from across the way, and mentioned later that me and Kellan actually looked really comfortable together, like old friends. (Huh?) She says she even remembers him reaching out to put his hand on me.

Wha--?! Did I miss that? Part of me was already thinking that my OCD on Kellan’s been busted – that my little OMK bubble has burst.

And now I know it has, coz DAMNIT wouldn’t I remember if he’d reached out and touched me??

It took me a while but I finally put it together. It was towards the end, when I ditched Kellan and BG for a few minutes to catch up with some friends at one of the tables in the back.

When Kellan and BG caught up with me, I happened to be walking by one of the tables, laughing to myself as one of the other girls was stretched out on the floor.

Amused, Kellan whispered to me, “What is she doing??” as he walked up beside me.

His hands lingering near my elbow before reaching my shoulder.

Shit. And I can hardly remember it.

That's what I get for distancing myself, right? It's okay, though, coz it would NOT have been cool for me to bust out into fan mode. Uh... no - lol.

Dark Intruder

It swirls into the room like a dark, heavy cloud. Doesn't matter where I'm sitting or what I'm doing... it will find me, as if it has fingers curled out, reaching for me blindly in the darkness.

And when it finally hits me, caressing my skin and marking its territory just isn't good enough.

Looking for a way in, it wants to wrap its familiar arms around me. Slowly suffocating me with its strength, daring to penetrate through my walls to find my core. My essence. My very being.

You know "it." Is it the same for you?

Is it anger? Loneliness? Tension? Frustration?

Yes. Yes, yes and yes... But what is it that eats at me the most?

The disconnect.

Autographs Mayhem

Day 3 of the 2009 Grand Slam/Twi-Tour Convention (Part 3 of 4)

Coming into this, I knew I’d have to put in my time, work my way up. I worked my ass off, determined to let the higher-ups know that I was serious about my assignments. That I wasn’t just there for the celebs or to hang out with the fans.

Oh – that was a big piece of it – hell yeah – but I am all about getting the job done first.

And at the autograph line, my job was at the front of the line with one other girl. Just the two of us between the fans and the celebs. Could it get any better than this?

If I only knew. ;)

Before long, we ended up redirecting the line and I no longer needed to clear the doorway. During all this, Hilly and Hanna Hindi walked through, along with Jacob Jost, Drew Lorentz and Joseph Lewellyn. I got to chat with them a little bit, and secured my next big thing:

Interviewing “The Hillywood Show” cast members.

Eeeek! Lol – I’m so excited. I’m actually still working on my interview questions for them but heads up – I’ll soon be posting that special interview, right here at MammaDawg.com.

But now that the autograph line was in order, it freed up some of my time so I was able to walk around and check out how everything else was going. We had four tables set up, laid out side-by-side, one for each of the celebs.

And I got to hang out right across from them.

Later one of the supervisors came to me for help – the line had stopped and she was asking if I could please go and get it taken care of.

Looks like one of the ladies bought TEN autograph tickets from EACH of the celebs, and was getting her stuff all mixed up. The biggest hold-up was at the end, with Mike. Though it wasn't his fault at all.

She was getting confused as to what needed to get signed and what had already been signed. So I stepped in and helped her get moving along.

Mike was so sweet and patient. I can still see him, all smiles and not irritated by the hold-up, whatsoever.

I told you he rocks. :)

This lady had TONS of posters and pictures and trading cards and stuff, so I helped her and her assistant carry all their stuff back to the auditorium. By this time, it was almost 8pm and I knew the After-Party would be kickin’ off as soon as autographs were finished.

And guess who got the okay to work the event? ;)

I asked for a quick break to grab a bite to eat and ran up to my room. Bread, bread and bread is all I ate the whole weekend, and I had two hopia’s before heading back down. But I was hot and wanted to change, so I slipped into a short-sleeved blouse and freshened up before THE highlight of the day – the Twilight After-Party.

You know... the part where the celebs cruise the entire room, table to table, to greet all of our special guests? Not even the Gold Pass members were granted entrance to this special event - you had to have a special Twilight Pass to attend.

Unless of course, you happen to be working the event... ;)
