Meeting Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke

Peter Facinelli (AKA Twilight's Carlisle Cullen)First one up for photo ops was Peter Facinelli. The rest of the girls were taking the "My Two Dads" picture and I was the only one who opted for them separately, so I jammed upstairs to change out of my velour outfit and went to stand in line by myself for Peter.

This is actually when I first met Carrie and Tammie, two of the girls working the Salute to Twilight Convention in San Francisco. Even if, I was still a little nervous about this first photo op.

Peter, though, was a complete gentleman. He is charming and funny and witty, and Tammie said that if it were up to him, he'd give EVERYONE a hug and a personalized autograph. But when you have 800+ people waiting in line... lack of time kinda sets the limit.

We chit-chatted for a bit as he asked me where I'm from, and then we took our photo. I was a total dork - lol.

But if anything, I think it might've warmed me up for Billy Burke... ;)

Everytime I see Billy... on interviews or whatnot, it's like he's... always shortchanging himself. Like he feels like he's second-rate next to these rising young actors - like Rob Pattinson. (You might've heard me mention this at the Twilight Coven.)

Take that damn mustache off of Billy and WHOA. You've got a hottie. Billy also has this "bad boy" air about him... his stance, the way he dresses, his tats hanging out and all... just the way he is. And then that tiny bit of insecurity splashed on top of it all this makes him THAT MUCH sexier.

Now I'm at the front of the line and as I'm walking up to Billy, I asked him, "You wouldn't mind terribly putting your arms around me?"

It took all my nerve just to get that one line out that I honestly can't even remember what he said. Only that he started putting his arms around my shoulder.

But that wasn't exactly what I had in mind, so I gently pulled his arms down in front of me and I heard him go, "Oh. [Pause.] Ohhhhh," as realization on what I had intended kicked in for him.

Thinking about it still makes me laugh out loud.

He kept his hands on top of mine and EVERY TIME I look at our photo, I just melt. There is something sweet about the expression on his face. Something warm and endearing... never mind smokin'.

After the photo was taken, I thanked him and turned to leave, but found myself turning back to face him... Someone had asked him earlier during the Q&A if he was going to change his look for New Moon.

Looking him in the eye, I said quietly, "You have to know how HAWT you are. Just like this... Don't change a thing."

And even though he thanked me most sincerely for my candid thoughts, he needn't have said a word... not with the way his eyes looked directly into mine. I already knew it.

I've seen the other photos he's taken with everyone else. They don't exactly look like mine. ;)

Billy Burke (AKA Twilight's Charlie Swan

Next up is Ashley, Rachelle and finally... Jackson Rathbone himself. Jackson, Jackson, Jackson... *sigh* I've got work calling and a full weekend ahead, but I will be back. Oh, and, I hope you don't mind looking at the photos again - I can find every excuse to take another glance at 'em!

Reality is kickin' me in the ass

Okay. So you know that I can swoon on memories from the TwiTour all day long. But I'm getting a pretty good kick in the ass trying to bring myself home from la la land. ;)

My 2nd grader has this huge research project due tomorrow (damn - did I do research projects when I was 7?) and my 14 year old debuts tonight in the school's annual drama production. Somehow, he landed himself a small speaking part when all of the other freshman are usually just cast as extras.

Even though my 7 year old's still not done with basketball, baseball season kicked in yesterday, with yesterday as the first practice. Hubz was running a meeting with CONVIS so he wasn't able to make it - thank goodness he'll be there for Friday's practice.

My 4 year old has homework due tomorrow that I keep forgetting about. Bad mommy. But seriously - is my pre-schooler the only one with homework?!

And I still need to catch you up on what it was like meeting the rest of the Twilight celebs. Besides amazing, of course. :) And let's not forget - the winners for our Everglow Party!!

I've finally gotten my work emails down to under a hundred, and have a few meetings to plan in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Phoenix. Shit. I'm gonna be busy.

What's cute, though... is Hubz and I have been spending a lot more QT together in the evening. Fucker even admitted that he missed me while I was at the convention. lol - if you know Hubz, you know how cocky the sonofabitch can be sometimes.

Like how he NEVER tells me "you look nice" or "your haircut looks good" or "I like that outfit on you" - even when we head out for parties or events... because he's afraid it'll get to my head?!

Uh, no. lol - not gonna happen when you never hear it, right?

So, if anything, I owe a huge thanks to Kellan and the guys for the great pics and being such good sports. Who would've thought that those dreamy snapshots could bring a husband and wife even closer together?

Even if the Hubz wishes WE had a picture like the one of me and my monkey man. ;) Maybe this'll get him to finally start setting up date nights.

Oh... I could get used to this. ;)

Meeting Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz
I don't think I even know where to begin... In fact - I don't think I can actually put it all down - there's TOO MUCH to share!!

But you KNOW I have to give you the scoop on my one and only, Kellan Lutz... ;)

There were about 850 people in attendance at the Salute to Twilight Convention in San Francisco. You can imagine what the lines for photo ops and autographs looked like...

Jess and I had just stepped into the room where about 10 other people were waiting in front of us to get their picture taken with Kellan. What's trippy is he actually saw us coming in, and watched us take our place in line.

I'm nervous as hell and trying to keep myself from acting like an idiotic teenager. And then his handler motions to let me know it's okay to move forward.

All of a sudden, some broad took over and asked him in a soft spoken voice: "You wouldn't mind perpin' to be my boyfriend for a day, would ya?"

But she spoke too quietly and he didn't hear, so she said it again, louder this time. "Just for the day, " she smiled.

Kellan's game and says, "Sure - what would you like me to do?"

In her mind, she's picturing a couple slow dancing and stopping to take a picture. "I was thinking... something like this..." And she moves in closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

He embraces her around the waist, and after the picture is taken, she thanks him for the photo as she walks away to pick up her bag from the table, but...

"Odette!" I turned around. It was the photographer, Chris. "You blinked! Let's do it again."

So we get ready for another picture and Chris apologizes to me. I laughed, "Oh hell - no worries. It gives me a second chance here." :)

Autographs took place later that afternoon and Kellan's handler recognizes me on the spot. She calls my name out loud, "Odette! What's going on girl?"

Gotta love Carrie - we chit chat for a bit and then it's my turn to hand over the photo I brought for Kellan to sign. I wasn't sure if he remembered me from earlier, so I reached over to touch him lightly on the hand and said, "Don't forget. You're my monkey man tonight."

And then he gave me this look and an OH SO SEXY growl.

Someone pick me up off the fucking floor, please.

Later than night, at the Vampire Ball, all the celebrity guests are making rounds to all the tables to say hello and give hugs to everyone. VERY cool. I dressed up as a Vampire Geisha coz I didn't want to look like everyone else, and I wanted something with an asian flair to it.

Kellan's handler tells all of us to stand up as Kellan is finishing up with the table before us. Of course, he happens to be right in front of me. I can see him looking at me while he gives his last hug, and as the other girl steps aside, he comes up to me and gives me the once over while teasing, "Love your outfit..."

He's closed the space between us now and is giving me a hug while I thanked him for the compliment, and in that moment, the broad from earlier stepped in and whispered softly into his ear, "Love you." This at the same time they drifted apart, she squeezes his non-existent love handles, just above the hips as she lets go. Kinda like how you squeeze someone's shoulder goodbye.

Except I didn't realize I was gonna do that until it actually happened.

WTF?! lol - she can hardly believe herself. She steps aside to give the others room, and notices that, again, he's taking a peek at her while giving hugs to someone else. She turns around, and after a few minutes, realize he's standing RIGHT BEHIND her and that he could trip over her if he took one step backwards.

I don't know if I freaked or if I didn't trust myself or what - but I had to move. There was NO way I was going to let myself get in his way like that. Someone was calling me to take pictures and I jumped at the chance to try and bring my heart rate back to normal.

*sigh*

The next morning, we were standing in line to take photos with Ashley Greene when I saw Carrie and Tammie, the girls working the event, walking towards us.

"Odeeeeettttte... got something for you," they called to me in singsong. A suspicious smile playing on their faces.

They were holding a flat paper bag, the kind that fits an 8x10 photo. Quite possible the photo of me and Kellan that I'd been dying to find out if it turned out okay or not.

"Chris hooked you up, girl." Then they smiled and gave me the bag before heading off for their next post. I *heart* those girls. :)

It was my picture of Kellan and me. Hand delivered to me at 10am instead of 12pm upstairs with everybody else. I was so excited, people were gathering around me as we oogled over the photo, that I didn't even realize that I hadn't yet seen what Chris, the photographer, had actually hooked me up with.

Until I felt something else under the picture... "What's... this?" I said out loud as I slowly pulled this out from underneath:

~ Dette and Kellan Lutz ~

They kept saying how it looked like it should be a magazine cover - lol. Isn't he just amazing? And a great sport at that!!

EDIT: Wondering how Hubz reacted to all of this? Check it out here.

I've Got the Golden Ticket

Gold TicketOne can never be too old. Look at me - I feel like Charlie from the Willy Wonka Factory with my GOLD WEEKEND TICKET!!

This morning I'm heading up to San Francisco for Creation's Salute to Twilight Convention this weekend.

No hubby. No kids. Just a bunch of TwilightMOMS rockin' the house with the Twilight cast.

OMK!!!

Kellan and Jasper and Peter. Ashley and Rachelle. Billy, Mike and Christian. Did I mention Kellan already? ;) Creation has never had soooo many celebrity guests at a single event. I sure picked the right one to attend for my first one, didn't I? =)

Have I told you - that I'm now 34 years old - and this will be my first trip EVER... without Hubz or the kids?

My first trip on my own with some girlfriends. I've never done that before... And I've certainly never attended anything like this before... I love how Stephenie's brought so many people together with the Twilight Saga...

I'm hittin' the road and won't be back for a few days. But when I do... I hope to have some good pictures to share with you.... Lord, please - just help me behave myself?

lol - we also have some celebrating to do when I get back - will be closing up the Everglow Party and the Elizabeth Choker Giveaway so be sure to get all your entries in!!

Now - I'm gonna go get my O.C.D. on. ;)

Butterflies and Flip Flops

When you've been married for any number of years now, the rush of "being in love" seems to dwindle more and more. In fact, I remember reading that it takes two years for the "high" to fade... when couples in love stop forgiving those little idiosyncrasies they once thought were so cute.

Two years for the butterflies to stop making their appearances.

Hell - we've been married ten - and it's been a whiiiiiile since I got the butterflies.

But this morning, Hubz has to get into work early, and for once, I'm not the first one up in the house. We've got Lance Armstrong in town today, and Hubz needs to make sure everything's in order before the race starts.

Most mornings, I'm lucky to get a "See ya," before he heads out to drop off our teen at high school then go to work.

But I'm telling you... it MUST still be my birthday, coz this morning?

He leaned over and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

Damn - where'd all these butterflies come from???

lol - so tell me - what gives you the butterflies? What makes your stomach do an internal flip-flop?

Probably better kept in the bedroom

Hubz and I talk about everything.

Ev-er-y-thing.

So, um, yes... he knows how much I *heart* Kellan Lutz - AKA Emmett Cullen.

Never mind that Kellan is a cutie - but I adore his fun-loving personality! I use a different scale in finding men attractive. Looks help - but it can go up or down from there, depending on what he looks like on the inside.

So when the TwilightMOMS confirmed for me what a sweetheart Kellan is in person - that just did me in.

And to think... he's gonna be at the Vampire Ball with us next Saturday night?!

Good lord - let me behave, please. Let me behave. ;)

Anyhoo - my birthday present is actually the convention next week, but Hubz still got me a few more gifts for the actual day of. A couple of them - I just HAD to share with you:

First - he tried to get me a birthday cake with Kellan's photo on it (he found these on his own - I might've picked something else!):

Kellan Lutz - AKA Emmett CullenKellan Lutz - AKA Emmett Cullen
~ Photos Hubz wanted for my birthday cake ~

But these photos were copyrighted... so... no can do.

Instead, my never-online-hubby found Cafe Press and got me this matching set. I was dyin' - LMAO!

Emmett Cullen VILF
~ My new pajama set ~

I love how - every now and then - he'll remind me why I married his skinny ass. And why I put up with all of his crap! And don't think he doesn't have his own faves - like Victoria Secret's Jarah Mariano!

Birthdays for Both of Us!

About a month ago, Joel caught a glimpse of a Spider-Man cake while we were at the grocery store. He was so excited, jumping up and down about it. I pulled the same stunt I do whenever they point out fun stuff they'd like to get for Christmas.

"You like the cake? Okay - we'll put it on your wish list. For your birthday, okay?"

A muted smile spread across his face as he nodded. "k, ma."

This was a month ago. Seriously. We haven't talked about it since.

So the night before his birthday (2/6), when we were tucking him into bed, I asked him, "It's your birthday tomorrow - are you excited?"

Nice going, Mom. Get him all worked up right before bed, right?

lol - but that smile came back, and after 0.2 seconds - he reminded me of my promise.

"Spider-Man Cake!!"

How in the world did he remember? I'll have to remind myself that this one doesn't forget very easily. ;)

He's such a ham, isn't he? Ready to dive into his presents:

Happy 4th Birthday, Little Shit!

And Happy Birthday to your mamma, too!

His Needs First... So When Do Mine Come In?

The Hubz is starting to pout. I think he misses me. Or sex with me.

Which, of course, would be a little more endearing if he wasn't such an ass about it. When he is ever going to learn? It takes a little QT to warm me up, which actually includes some talking. Conversation. Eye contact.

Things like that.

*sigh*

I could sit here and bitch about all the ways that he's turned me off. But how progressive would that be? Would that move us forward?

Or just make me feel better?

I miss my husband. I do. I appreciate - sincerely - how much he helps around the house. Especially with the laundry. I hate doing laundry. But as Dr. Chapman puts it, he's not speaking my love language.

He is not happy with me right now. To say the least. Part of me thinks he might resent my online time... and that's why he's so grumpy, but...

You know what? It never was a problem when I used to be the one, sitting on my ass, waiting for him to get home. Scheduling my entire day around him, waiting until he was ready to talk so we could catch up on the day's events.

*scoff* That shit doesn't happen. He just doesn't want to talk when he gets home. And you know what? I got tired of sitting around waiting.

And now that I'm not sitting and waiting, now he wants to talk?

It's not like it hasn't been crazy. The pre-schooler was running a fever to 103, and finally kicked it JUST before his birthday and his mini-party. My mom was visiting for a while before my dad picked her up on Saturday to go back home. The high-schooler's dealing with a schedule with drama rehearsals that doesn't leave any time for him to actually eat dinner. And work has been unbelievably busy. Never mind the contest OR that I'm leaving next week for the convention!

But even when I don't have the laptop on me or my nose in a book, he still doesn't talk to me. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?

Here I go. Ranting. I was kinda trying to stay away from that.

This is an age-old issue between us. His #1 need: Sex

And he gets it. Typically, 3-4 times a week. 5 or 6 on a good week. EVEN IF I'VE ALREADY FALLEN ASLEEP.

This is my gift to him. A constant reminder for him to let him know that his needs are important to me.

Though... on a bad week, he's lucky if he gets any. Sorry. I just can't bring myself to do it.

My #1 need: Quality Time

Date night, date LUNCH, conversation in the evening - HELL - I'd take a half hour of chit chat. Talk to me once without looking at the TV, or watching passerby's walk by. Ask me how the day went, what the boys got into today.

At least act like I'm sitting here with you. And when we're out... even walking with me instead of in front of me would make a huge difference. I don't even give a shit about holding hands anymore.

How often do I get what I need?

Hmnnn.... not counting this last trip... shit. I honestly can not remember. And we got back a week ago.

Help a girl out here... am I asking too much? How do you guys handle the balance???

Everglow Giveaway #7 - West of Mars (CLOSED)

Today's giveaway comes directly from the fictional world of Susan Helene Gottfried:

From the Author:
The Demo Tapes: Year One collects twenty-five short stories about Trevor Wolff and Mitchell Voss, the two founding members of the fictional band ShapeShifter. Starting with the day the two meet and following their adventures as the band gains momentum, The Demo Tapes: Year One takes you on a ride not merely through rock and roll, but through the lives of two very memorable characters.

Demo Tapes author Susan Helene Gottfried has been writing since she was six years old. Her love of music started about the same time, making a combination of the two things as natural as breathing. She's got two degrees in creative writing and has worked in radio, at record stores (remember those?), on stage crews, and in promotions, all in the name of rock and roll.

You can find her at her blog, where you'll also find more tales of Trevor the Bad Boy and his band leader friend Mitchell -- and everyone else who populates the world of the West of Mars Meet and Greet.

Come join the Trevolution!

Do you need our first born, too?

Super Bowl XLIII TicketsCan you believe... we got offered $10,000 USD for our Super Bowl XLIII tickets?

My brother-in-law is 6'5" and weighs about 260 lbs. Big guy. Not someone anyone really wants to mess with. He offered to pick up our tickets for us at the office while we were flying in. He had no idea what he was in for.

Hell. Neither did we.

With so many scams out there, we were nervous about where to get our tickets from - checked out about 5 reputable sites and decided on the site Ticketmaster refers you to: TicketsNow.com

They don't screw around.

When Big Guy - my brother-in-law - finally located the office, he had to give his name through a locked door. When they verified his name was on the list, they took his picture before even letting him through. He didn't get his hands on the tickets until after he produced a Driver License, signed some docs and gave his fingerprints.

His fingerprints.

Then they pulled up a map of the stadium on the wall and, using a laser pointer, pointed to the section where our seats were located. Big Guy verified it was correct, and 15 minutes later - walked out the door with fully verifiable, legitimate tickets in hand.

That's when the offer came in.

Not 500 feet from the office, two big, burly men approached Big Guy and made the offer. They were able to see what seats he had - and offered $10,000 big ones.

Holy shit.

Hubz heard the story when we were waiting for our connecting flight, and hollered into the phone: "You sold the tickets, right?!"

Crazy fool. lol - but seriously... how do you know you're not getting counterfeits? Or a fake money order?

Or a gun to your face?

Hmph. I'm glad Big Guy got the tickets instead of us. We don't quite have the same presence he does. =)

I could tell you about the game, but hell - you've probably already heard all about it. =) I don't care what anyone says - the Steelers had a helluva schedule and they played really well this year. REALLY well.

The game never should've been that close... though viewers at home never got a chance to see all the personal fouls laid on our guys, especially the first two on Hines Ward. Two plays, two fouls. Never even got called - no flags, not a single one.

Not. Nice.

But that's alright, coz we pulled on through. There's a reason why the Steelers are the first franchise to win the Super Bowl SIX times. And we were actually there for it.

Check out the pics - saw us a couple of celebrities amidst all the crazy fun. It was definitely an adventure we'll never forget!

Everglow Giveaway #2 - The Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan (CLOSED)

Are you ready for our second giveaway? If you've read or watched "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan, you might be interested in this special giveaway, sponsored by the one and only, The Scholastic Scribe.

A single comment below will get you a free entry - check out Melissa B's recommendation below:

As the self-proclaimed Superior Scribbler of the Blogosphere, my prize will be the hardcover edition of Amy Tan's The Opposite of Fate.

If you haven't read this one, Tan's collection of essays, which spans her extremely prolific literary life, is so worth it! The depth & breadth of this beautiful collection, which comes from the author of The Joy Luck Club & The Kitchen God's Wife (among others), is quite remarkable. Tan has a way of juxtaposing real life with both her personal struggles and her literary ideas, which makes everything in this crazy world sort of make sense.

As she says in one of her essays included in the book, "As a storyteller, I know that if I don't like the ending, I can write a better one." Tan knows she's just a storyteller, but also conveys the message that we all have a certain power over our lives, which she dubs, "The opposite of fate."

The value of this book is $24.95; the value to the winner: priceless, of course!
