I had just finished buying some birthday gifts online, and was complaining about how tired I felt after the long day. He was watching Steelers vs. Redskins on Monday Night Football, and Willie Parker just scored a touchdown. Seemingly out of nowhere, my silly streak kicked in and I plopped myself onto his lap, giving him a mischievous smile.
"Do I look like an idiot to you?"
I'd just walked by the mirror in the hall, almost forgetting that I had tried out a new hair style earlier in the day. I only meant to flat iron my short haircut, but ended up flipping the ends out on accident...
Still smiling, twirling my fingers around my "Alice Cullen" hairdo... I asked him again what he thought about my new look as I tried to stifle a giggle.
Obviously torn between this sudden show of affection from my tired ass, and his beloved Steelers on TV, he grinned at me with surprised eyes, darting back and forth between my face and Big Ben's. Uh-oh... Ben hadn't emerged from the locker room... is something wrong with his shoulder?
A little growl escaped him as he planted a rough, playful kiss on me and I laughed out loud - all in the same moment our 7 year-old skipped back into the living room.
"Eew - I saw that!!" [Pause.] "That's D-I-G-U-S-T-I-N-G."
But I'd already hopped down and was off to the kitchen to fix the kids' bedtime cocoa, grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
Numbnuts, however, was still on the same train of thought:
"Uh, Mom? Did I spell that right?"
lol - I knew he was just messing with me, too. ;)
