What a whirlwind!
At the last minute, we packed up and trekked on over to Orange County. Spent a day at Knott's Berry Farm, and even got the whole family on a ride at once - first time for all 5 of us instead of someone hanging back with the Cheeky Bandit. lol - I still laugh when I think about his reaction to it.
The boys went swimming the next day, and we even squeezed in a movie. "Enchanted," actually. I wanted to watch something mindlessly entertaining, and the kids and I got a couple good laughs out of it.
Can you imagine how delightful it is to hear your 7 year-old turn to you and say:
"Mom - you're a princess to me." (Pause.) "Even if you can't sing like one."
I was LMAO. He's been trying to get me to sing like Snow White since then - and I'm sorry - but that is not happening. Oh, I try alright. And we just burst into giggles from my hopeless efforts.
Later that night, we took them to their first-ever dinner show: Pirate's Dinner Adventure
That was a hoot - though I tend to compare cost to value and um, wasn't thrilled about the $ we had shelled out by the time the dinner show was over. If they hadn't all exclaimed that it was the BEST SHOW they had ever seen, I'd be cussin' the pricks out. The show people, that is.
The next day, Father's Day, was low key at best. Who wants to pack and drive on Father's Day? So I did my best to get all the packing done and get the boys ready before he woke up. I even drove all the way home. I was quite surprised - I'm the night driver, he's the day driver. But hell - it was his day, ya know?
Of course, I keenly left out the fact that I was pissed off at him the night before and slept in the other room with the boys. What a bitch, huh?
And since we couldn't leave until we presented him with some last minute gifts, out came the surprises, going along with a golf theme, of course. Hubz got a couple of precocious cards from us, coupled with some golfing toys wrapped up in a bag. Amongst them was a box, with a note on the outside that read:
