Getting lost. Lost in the drama. In the emotion. Lost in a world not my own. It's an escape from the troubles within my mind. My soul.
Shit. An escape from the pressures of mothering 3 boys (sometimes 4), working my day job from home, and attempting to manage a household all at once.
Attempt. Which means there are toys where they shouldn't be, dust on the cabinets, dishes in the sink and unpaid bills on the countertop. lol - I used to idealize family dinners where we'd all sit around the table, catch up on the day's events... I even imagined he'd kiss me in the morning before leaving for work, and upon returning, he'd kiss me hello and ask me how the day went.
Yeah, I know. Completely naive.
But yesterday, I found out that Mama hadn't seen "Pride & Prejudice" yet, so I HAD to put it on for her. It didn't matter that I'd seen it 17 times already. I fall in love with it over, and over, and over again.
Mama said she'd pick Mr. Bingsley. "Mr. Darcy's too intimidating," she says. Me? I don't even bat an eye. Mr. Bingsley is cute in his sweet, goofy way. But bring on Mr. Darcy's passion any day.
Then, next goes in "Troy." And while you think it might be Brad Pitt's character that does it for me (how could we forget Achilles?!), you are dead wrong.
It's Hector whom I fall in love with. A man who stands for love and honor, a man who thinks of his family, his father and his countrymen, brave to the bone. A smart and admirable man who keeps his feet on the ground, level-headed and dependable, forever protecting his wife and son.
It's not even about looks. It's beyond that. It's a person's heart, their character, what they stand for... which decides - for me - if they're beautiful.
And Hector is effen gorgeous.
So can you guess who Hector reminds me of?
lol - I told Skinny Ass that he's my Hector. And apparently, I'm his Lucy Liu. In any movie.
What about you? What fictional characters have you fallen in love with?
